Given that the residential sector represents 19 percent of Kentucky’s total energy use, Kentucky homeowners collectively have the potential to save millions of dollars annually by adopting technologies and practices that improve energy efficiency, conserve resources, and save on their utility bills every month.

To help homeowners tap into these opportunities, the following resources are provided:


  • Maximize utilization of tax incentives when installing efficiency measures
  • Consult with your gas or electric utility for available efficiency incentives

KY Home Performance (existing homes) – this publicly sponsored program provides a directory of trained and certified energy evaluators and contractors to help you assess your home to make recommended cost-savings efficiency improvements. Use their online energy assessment tool. The program also offers low-interest, unsecured loans to make verified efficiency improvements.

New Homes – Building a new home?  Consider these energy-efficient designs standards:
