National Energy Education Development Project

The Department for Energy Development and Independence (DEDI) is partnering with the Kentucky affiliation of the National Energy Education Development Project (NEED) to provide curriculum-based approaches to improve energy efficiency in schools.  Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, DEDI has been able to provide NEED with $1 million in stimulus funding.

NEED, a nonprofit organization, focuses on the scientific concepts of energy and provides objective information about conventional and emerging energy sources to elementary schools.  NEED discusses the use of different energy sources and their impact on the environment, economy and society.
